about the game
Equipment needed: Coloured cones
Body parts can be made as easy and as complex as you like so adapting this game to all age groups can be made easy
- Place all the different coloured cones around the room
- The players start the game by walking round the cones in all directions
- When you shout a colour the aim is for the players to get to that colour as soon as they can
- Repeat this a few times before progressing
- To progress the game change the way the players move around the room choose from; hop, jump, skip, crawl, sprint, power walk, run, slow motion run, flap your arms like wings, lunge (create your own)
- Then say a command to add in which colour cone they touch with which body part e.g. Red finger, the players would get to a red cone as fast as they can and place a finger on the cone
- Progress again, say a command but add in a number so the players will need to team up to achieve this e.g. Yellow 6 feet
- Keep changing the colours, numbers, body parts and the way the players move to make the game more fun
- Get the children involved and allow them to call out the different colours, numbers and body parts
- To make the game harder ask the players to link arms, hold hands or make the moves quite hard such as bunny hops
- To add a challenge to the players start taking cones away and each time a player doesn’t make it to a cone they run around the room 3 times before going back to the game
